CIDA

CIDA is a passenger Check-In Desk and Administration system used by Eurolines Limited who are the UKs leading provider of European wide passenger coach services. The system was based heavily on the existing National Express SMART system and is designed to run alongside SMART.

CIDA allows the Eurolines check-in administrators to allocate particular coaches to each service and passengers may then be pre-allocated to these coaches, or allocated on a first come first served basis as they arrive at the check-in desk. The system allows far greater control over the check-in process than was offered by the previous manual system and more passenger information is also captured as is required by new European regulations.

The system incorporates passport scanners which are used to capture the basic details of each passenger. Reports are generated listing the passengers travelling on each coach.

CIDA has improved the quality appearance of Eurolines to the customers who are now provided with ATB printed Eurolines boarding cards when they check-in. The system also allows Eurolines far greater control over coach and passenger management.

CIDA also includes a ticket evaluation module that is used to assist Eurolines in their pool accounting processes with their continental partner companies.

CIDA is currently installed in Eurolines main coach departure point at Victoria Coach Station in London, and in their coach control station in the port of Dover. These sites are linked by an X25 network which allows details of checked-in passengers to be sent ahead of the coach. The system is designed with expansion in mind and may eventually be installed in other Eurolines control centres throughout continental Europe linked by the network.

CIDA was designed and developed by Cybertron. It was written in Microsoft Visual Basic and Borland C++ and uses a Btrieve database.
